Welcome to Culinary Explorer : 365 days of food!
While my intention for this blog from the beginning was to make a new recipe every day and blog about it for a year, life had other plans and it has evolved into more of a place I can come and post new recipes as I have time. I believe the saying “bit off more than I can chew” best describes my initial goal. As I mentioned, life got busy, we moved (twice) and our schedules have greatly changed since I first started this blog. I haven’t been making as many new recipes this past year, but I am ready to get back into things again, at least part-time. So for all the loyal followers that joined me in the beginning I thank you for your patience, and for all the new readers still finding my blog I hope you will stick around!
A bit about me… My name is Alicia, and Culinary Explorer has been my handle now for a long time on a wonderful recipe sharing site known as Food.com (formerly RecipeZaar). My husband’s name is Jeff, and together we have two amazing little boys, Perrin and Archer. Jeff and I are fairly adventurous when it comes to trying new foods…. or at least I make him try whatever I want lol…. but the kids are your typical picky children who refuse to eat much of what I make. I am forever on the lookout for new things I think they might like, and I guess I will have to keep looking until I find some, but in the meantime Jeff and I enjoy all the wonderful recipes I have come across, and those I have created myself.
I am a SAHM, but before I moved I also owned my own photography business called Alicia Welcome Photograpy (Children and Family Portraits). I have always enjoyed cooking/baking, and while realizing I also had a passion for photography after my first was born I found food photography. I remember back to the early days, when I was still very new to both, trying to new recipes and posting pictures of my end results on RecipeZaar, and I shudder a little at how bad they looked (and maybe tasted at times). However I have come a long way in both my culinary skills and my photography and I am happy to share those efforts with all of you. On this blog you will find everything from the healthy and natural to the comforting and indulgent, and as I said before, I hope you will stick around and see what I make next!
