Day 148 : Nutella Iced Coffee

Ok, so I know it’s starting to look like I have a nutella addiction…. and maybe I do, but I came up with this the other night and just had to share it with you all!  Although I enjoy making blended frappes at home with my nifty machine I have been craving just iced coffees lately and have been experimenting with new versions of that.  This is simply YUMMY!  Creamy, chocolatey, nutty, and satisfies both my need for dessert and coffee all at once!

I don’t measure when making my coffees, so below are just estimates.  Feel free to add more or less to your taste.

Nutella Iced Coffee

Serves : 1              Time to make : 5 minutes

Ingredients :

  • 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee (I use hazelnut espresso beans)
  • 2 T. nutella
  • 1 T. chocolate syrup
  • ice
  • 2 T. fat free half and half
  • milk (top off)

Directions :

  1. Brew your coffee, then with that combine the nutella, chocolate syrup, and 2-3 ice cubes (helps it to blend) in a blender on high until well mixed.
  2. Fill a tall glass about half full with ice then pour the coffee mixture over top.
  3. Add the half and half and fill the rest of the way with milk.
  4. Stir.

Day 137 : Nutella Rice Krispie Treats

I love a good rice krispie treat, so when I came across these I knew I had to make them.  I realize they are not low fat or calorie and it isn’t going to help my need to diet, but I just couldn’t resist.  They sure do taste good though!   The nutella, though obvious, is not overpowering as I feared it might be with so much of it.

The one issues I had, which really isn’t much of an issue since it turned out fine, was that the nutella didn’t seem to want to melt in.  I put it back on the burner for a little bit while stirring, taking care not to burn it, and ended up with more of a thick caramel type thing but it worked out fine.  I haven’t made many rice krispies so I am not sure how thick the stuff is supposed to be but it did seem a bit on the thicker side.  At least I got a major arm workout trying to stir in the cereal lol.

Nutella Rice Krispie Treats

Serves : 15                     Time to make : 10 minutes

Ingredients :

  • 4 T. butter (1/2 stick)
  • 1 pkg (10 oz.) regular sized marshmallows or 4 cups mini marshmallows
  • 1 cup nutella
  • 6 cups rice krispies

Directions :

  1. Spray a 9×13 baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. In a saucepan over low heat melt the butter and add marshmallows stirring until they are melted.
  3. Take off the heat and add nutella, stirring until melted.
  4. Add cereal and stir until combined.  Spraying the spoon with cooking spray can make this part a little easier.
  5. Press into the prepared dish with some waxed paper and allow to cool before cutting into bars.

Day 134 : Nutella Shots

Ok, I know I did an alcohol drink yesterday for my blog, but as I was browsing recipes for this week’s meals I came across this one and just HAD to try it!  Nutella is one of the best things ever, and best of all I already had the liqueurs on hand!  Well sort of…. it actually calls for godiva chocolate liqueur, but I substituted godiva mocha liqueur and added a bit of chocolate syrup.  It is SO good, and would be great as a full drink instead of shots as well.  I really like the look (and taste!) of the nutella rim too.   This is the drink I would order for me and my girlfriends for ladies night so we could do lots of shots before we really felt the effects lol.  It’s not strong, but it’s also one that you gotta be careful with because you will want to keep drinking them and they will probably sneak up on you.

Beyond the above mentioned change I also used fat free half and half instead of the heavy cream called for in the recipe just to save a few calories.  I imagine it would be even better with the cream though.  I got about 8 shot glasses (1.4 oz. each) out of this.

Nutella Shots

Serves : 8 shots            Time to make : 5 minutes

Ingredients :

  • 3 oz. frangelico liqueur
  • 3 oz. godiva mocha liqueur
  • 1 oz. chocolate syrup
  • 1 1/2 oz. fat free half and half
  • ice
  • nutella

Directions :

  1. In a shaker filled with ice combine frangelico, godiva mocha, and half and half.  Shake 15-20 seconds until well mixed and chilled.
  2. Rim shot glasses with nutella, then strain drink into them.

Day 71 : Nutella Shake

After a rather high-calorie day filled with doughnuts, a nice early b-day dinner since tomorrow we’ll be too busy to make it out, and mochas I decided I would have to use my recipe of the day for my husband instead.  He has a small obsession with nutella so I thought why not make a nutella shake!?  It turned out rather good I think, and I bet with a bit more attention it could be VERY good.  I think a bit of frangelico, or something like some chocolate pudding added or some chocolate whip cream for the top would really put this over the top!

I used vanilla ice cream because it’s what I had on hand, but you could really use any flavor you wanted.  I bet chocolate or coffee ice cream would be good for this especially.  For the amounts I eye balled it since I rarely measure for drinks, but I will give estimates below.  Just adjust to your preference when making until you get the consistency and flavor you want.  It’s not a super thick shake so if you like them thick just add more ice cream or less milk.  This is a good one for the kids, but I have never met a person who didn’t like nutella!

Nutella Shake

Serves : 1         Time to make : 3 minutes

Ingredients :

  • 3 scoops vanilla ice cream
  • 2 T. nutella spread
  • 1 T. chocolate syrup
  • 1/2 cup milk

Directions :

  1. Blend everything together on high until smooth.
  2. Top with whip cream if you desire.

Day 58 : Nutella S’mores

There has to be an end in sight!  Please let there be an end in sight…..

Just another quick feel-good recipe today since my appetite is still not where it should be.  I came up with these a few years ago when we needed a little snack and they were a major hit.  S’mores are a great thing…. but Nutella is an amazing thing!  It only gets better when you put the two together, trust me!

Feel free to use mini marshmallows, marshmallow creme, flavored graham crackers, etc., and measurements are more of a guideline.  Though keep in mind that it really doesn’t take much nutella since it is a very strong flavored spread.  The smaller marshmallows will allow you to reach a gooey-er consistency since the larger ones will brown very quickly on the top before the whole thing is heated up, so keep that in mind if you prefer a gooey S’more.

Nutella S’mores

Serves : 2               Time to make : 5 minutes

Ingredients :

  • 4 graham crackers
  • 4 tsp. nutella spread
  • 4 large marshmallows, or about 24 minis

Directions :

  1. Break each graham cracker in half, so you have 8 square pieces.
  2. Spread 1 tsp. on each of 4 squares.
  3. Top those same squares with your marshmallows.  (Either 1 large or 6 mini)
  4. Place on a cookie sheet under the broiler and watch closely.  You want to cook them until the tops are nice and browned but it happens fast once it starts so be sure to watch closely!
  5. Top each with the remaining squares and press down.
  6. Enjoy!
